At this very moment, I’m sitting in the car with the fam leaving Dallas, Texas. We spent 4 days down here visiting my sister in law and her new born baby. You see my big brother is far far away on deployment and hasn’t even seen the little sweetie yet.
As soon as we get home, I will wash clothes, re-pack and we are off again. This time it’s Mom and Me, we are headed off to the Haven Blogging Conference in Atlanta. This is our first conference and we are so excited!
But before we go I’ve got a great vintage chair makeover for you!
Way back in the fall, I Instagramed this chair that Mom found at a local thrift store for only $10 ! Yes, $10 !!!
I fell in love instantly.
the good, no, the great mom that she is said “If you like it that much it’s yours!”
So, I took it home and started disassembling it right away.
It actually sat in my garage and was used as a cat bed for about 6 months and then I started taking it apart.
Now, taking it apart was easy,
Recovering it was also easy.
Basically, I took off the two legs/side panels. The I ripped all the fabric off and removed any nails or staples.
Fairly easy task.
I started recovering the chair with batting. I have recovered a chair before … read about it here, so I thought it would be fairly easy. I pretty much just used the same process as I did making our Upholstered Nailhead Headboard and our Upholstered Crib Headboard.
The gap between the back of the chair and the seat of the chair was the only tricky part to recover.
After I recovered the entire chair with batting and fabric it was time to put the side panels/legs back on.
Easy enough, right?
I seem to always have some sort of DIY DRAMA!!!
I covered the holes with batting..
And I couldn’t for the life of me find those darn screw holes.
So I had to cut holes in the side.
Luckily no one can really see that I did that unless they were looking for it.
But boy was that a silly mistake.
I still have one last step to finish. See how the fabric hangs down a little on the bottom side of the chair? Yep, right there…
That underside needs to be covered.
Remind me to add that to my endless to-do list.
But oh one more thing! Do you love the fabric? Isn’t it just perfect for our playroom?
Well I don’t know what it’s called but let me tell you what a deal I got. So there are these stores called $ 2,4,6,8 Fabrics and I thought we just had them here but I was wrong. On my recent travels I spotted them elsewhere. I think it was in Texas but I don’t know for sure. These stores sell amazing fabrics for… yep… you guessed it…. two, four, six, eight dollars a yard. And I got this fabric for $4 a yard. That’s right this entire chair and makeover was under $20!!!!
Jude loves to sit and look at books on our new chair.
Gavin turns it around to face the TV and uses it as his gaming chair.
And did I mention I just love how this chair looks with our paper bag flooring? If you are wondering we are still loving it!
Don’t you just love chair makeovers??? What do you think?
