Decorating for the holidays can be a big task and an expensive one as well. Now that we have moved into a larger house, our Christmas decor looked tiny . With a very small Christmas decor budget, we really had to get creative with decor this year. Using these 7 ways to save on Christmas Decor we were able to make a big impact on our house with only a small impact on our wallets. And YOU CAN TO!
So, How did I make a big impact on a little budget? I’m so glad you asked!
SHOP DOLLAR SPOTS
1) One of my top tips for saving on Christmas decor is to shop at dollar stores or dollar spots (which are located inside larger stores). Check out how my Mom made these Easy Christmas Swags for her windows using materials from the Dollar Store.
SHOP SALES AND USE COUPONS
2) Shop sales and use coupons. Hobby Lobby is one of my favorite places to find holiday decor. Most of the season the decor is 50% off. If you find an item, not on sale make sure you bring up this coupon on your phone and use it towards your full price item at the checkout. ( I always just Google “Hobby Lobby Coupon” when I get to the checkout.

SHOP THRIFT STORES AND ANTIQUE MALLS
3) Antique malls, yard sales, and thrift stores are a treasure trove of awesome and affordable holiday decor. We found a large antique sled, a pair of ice skates, 3 small table top trees and other small decorations for under $200. (we had seen fake sleds for over $150 in several places). Don’t let the name “antique” throw you off. Most antique stores carry a wide range of priced holiday items.

4) Shop discount stores. Target, Home Goods, TJMax and Marshalls are three of my favorite places to save on Christmas decor. The things I have found there are high end but without the hefty price tag! I created these Easy Chair Decorations for less than $10 a piece. See how to make those here.
SHOP END OF SEASON SALES
5) Shop holiday decor end of season sales. Set aside some of your Christmas money or gift cards and buy at the end of the season when everything goes on sale. Then pack it all up and pull it out next year. We did this last year when we bought our Christmas trees at Lowes. We saved hundreds of dollars.
MAKE or DIY HOLIDAY DECOR
6) Instead of buying Christmas arrangements, ornaments, or decor already pre-made try and make some of it yourself. Building this North Pole decoration was so easy and it made such a huge statement. 
DECORATE WITH FAMILY TREASURES … ANY KIND
7) Decorate with sentimental family treasures and they don’t have to be Christmas themed! My family is very large and over the years my parents have acquired a lot of decor. They have been more than happy to pass down some it down like this cute little vintage chevy (correct me if that’s the wrong model) given to my kids from my Father in Law. Not only is it free but each item has a treasured memory attached to it now that he is no longer with us.
