Many of you know that I openly admit that I have struggled with anxiety and depression for many years. In fact it all started after the birth of my first son 12 years ago. Read all about my anxiety here, my withdrawal from Lexapro and my Food Addiciton.
When I named this blog Chaotically Creative it was for a multitude of reasons. I felt so chaotic in my life. I felt like some of my best work came from that chaos and I also felt that through the process of creativity I found therapy and stress relief.
Although to this very day I still struggle with anxiety I want to share with you my 25 ways to calm your chaos. They have worked for me and I hope they work for you as well.

If you can, try to have a room or even just a corner that is your space. I have a girly decorated sewing room that is full of quilts and books and things that make me happy. After a stressful day at work I sometimes go in there for 30 or 60 minutes before I make supper. Even the cat likes to hide out there sometimes! I try to hang out there for a couple of hours every weekend.

Yes Gloria, that’s an excellent suggestion… not just having “me” time but a small space that is just yours. I like that!

Well, I think we all suffer from some kind of anxiety within our lives. I try to stay grounded by counting by blessings, NOT listening to the news, looking at pictures of my kids and grandkids, talking to my best friend — my hubby, and talking with my mamma and papa who are deceased, exercising, and cooking.
Lesley @Chaotically Creative says
I totally agree. Counting your blessings is another great reminder. I wanted to say I try to remember that it could always get worse but your way of thinking is a way more positive spin on that thought.

I just subscribed to your email and this is the first one I received! It is wonderful! On my fridge I have a piece of paper on which I wrote “Accommodate Life’s Disorder” Life never goes as planned, and it’s easy to get frustrated, but the more I remind myself to accommodate that, and ask myself how to adapt and adjust to the current situation, it all becomes more ‘plan like’ and less chaotic! haha! I have to have a plan, even if it’s only how to deal with each new unplanned thing! Thanks for your list! I’m going to add it to the side of my fridge and pay attention to it! Have a fun Howl oween!

Yay, I’m so excited you found us. And you are right Life never goes as planned and for those of us that have a hard time adapting it’s great to have reminders.

i have found taking a walk with my two year old granddaughter and seeing things through her eyes makes me realize that slowing down and enjoying the simpler things can really bring calm to your soul. Seeing them excited over the littlest things like that makes my heart happy and sing with joy and makes your stress melt away even it is for just a little while !!!
Lesley @Chaotically Creative says
That’s a really good one Rhonda. I agree looking through a child’s eyes can really put things in to perspective for me as well .
