Are you ready for the easiest DIY ever? If you can use a hot glue gun, a pencil and some scissors then you can learn how to make outdoor drapes. Oh and guess what else…… You can make them for well under $20 a piece. Which is a great price because outdoor drapes typically run upwards of $75.
Last year I started making these panels by tie dying them however like many DIY projects your ideas evolve and change. And after thinking about them for a while I decided that the tie dye effect was a little over powering for all the panels. Plus I really wanted to get these up and didn’t have time to tie dye them all. But if you are up for it check out that project here….

So some of you may be wondering why any one may need outdoor curtains. We extended our patio a few years ago and added this gazebo. We love our backyard space but we have two issues. First the sun is extremely bright even when we are under the gazebo. And secondly we have brand new neighbors directly behind us and because our elevation is lower we can see each other very … very… well.
Now we can close our drapes and be on the patio without that awkwardness of staring straight in to our neighbors’s business. And now that I have my awesome stenciled tray, we are on our way to a beautifully decorated space. The drapes also add such a great texture and softness outside and they really add to the overall ambiance and you can’t even tell they are drop clothes.
Kicking back and relaxing on the patio just got better because I can move the panels anywhere I need them for additional shade and privacy.
