Remember the pretty little back door makeover we did just a few weeks ago? Well, “pretty is as pretty does” and the back door has taken to not closing properly. It takes a big ole SLAM to get it shut and it is getting on my last nerve!
This post is so simple that I almost decided not to do it. Then I thought, I bet there are other folks dealing with this same problem, so why not? First of all, this is the inside of that pretty little back door, leading into our laundry/utility area. Yes, this is a future project, but for now we are going to talk about functionality.
The area with the cringing face is rubbing against the door jam. Of course my mind jumps to the conclusion that the door will have to be removed and some type of planing or chiseling done. While visiting with my neighbor, who could write a book on DIY, I mentioned how well her door shut and that mine was driving me crazy. She said, “put in bigger screws”. Could it really be that simple? Then a friend came over that works in construction took one look at it and said the same thing! Duh!!!!!
