We travel quite a bit. We always have. My husband is the “never sit still” type, me on the other hand could just stay at home all the time. I am so glad he is the “never sit still” type because I have experienced so much!
As promised I wanted to start sharing our trips with you.
Some will be past trips so please don’t get confused if my children look like they are doing the “Benjamin Button” thing. (getting younger) trust me there not, they’re growing like weeds.
Our most recent trip was a quick 4 hour trip to Stone Mountain Park, Georgia.
Stone Mountain Park can be seen in a day. It’s a beautiful park in right outside of Atlanta. But you really don’t feel like you are in a city at all.
The park has a few adventure activities like the Geyser Tower here and the Skyhike pictured at the top.
We did not get to enjoy these because it was raining that weekend and they are slippery when wet!
Instead we took the Summit Skyride to the top of Stone mountain. The view was amazing but those things always creep me out just a little. I hate heights.
Once you reach the top you enter in to a building with a cafe and gift shops. But the best part is standing on the mountain.
The day we went was completely foggy and overcast.
I felt as if we had landed on the moon.
And to be honest walking around Stone Mountain really made you feel like you were in space on another planet. Well especially that day because you couldn’t see the ground.
The kids and I had so much fun running around and climbing on the small rocks and jumping over the puddles of water.
The mountain seems as though it would literally drop off but guess what?
You can hike down.
We opted for the less slippery route and road the Summit Sky ride down.
Luckily we had planned this trip on our way home from Hilton Head Beach so we had beach chairs and umbrellas in the car.
We set up our spot in front of the mountain and waited for the laser show.
Yes that’s right there’s a laser show that projects on to the mountain and then fireworks at the end.
In front of the mountain there is a huge grassy field, the boys really enjoyed running around before the show.
All and all the show was pretty good. It’s unlike anything I have ever seen but defiantly not a mind blowing experience like a Disney Perfomance. But it was fun and if the weather was better it would have probably been more enjoyable.
We cut out early from the laser show because it started to rain…. REALLY HARD! We visited the gift shop which was really cool. I love t-shirts so I picked up a green one for myself and an orange one for Juju!
On a not so rainy day there are tons more activities to enjoy, including…
Duck Rides... so fun if you’ve never done those.
Great Locomotive Chase Adventure Golf….. who doesn’t love Putt Putt?
Ride the Scenic Railroad
and much more!
I mustache you a question… ( I had to say it)
Have you ever been to Stone Mountain Park?
List some awesome Parks you’ve been too! I’d love to go!
