Do you have wood floors? Better yet do you have any flooring other than carpet? If so we want to tell you all about a product we simply LOVE! We have had great results and want to show you how we Shine Dull Floors In Minutes with an AWESOME product!
Holloway House: Great Product & A Great Company
We not only love this product but we love the company we’ve personally communicated with them and they are a family owned American business. (we are not getting paid to say this) I love getting the opportunity to get to know the people behind the products. It’s always cool to find an awesome product and know that there’s a caring family behind it.
The Problem: Dull & Scratched up Floors
Whether I am giving a room a good cleaning or revamping it all together like in our office, I like my floor to look good! To me floors are the “shoes” of a room and we all know what the right shoes can do for an outfit. Right? It doesn’t take much to get floors dirty, scratched up or dull looking. It shouldn’t take long to get them clean and looking awesome either and it doesn’t.
It doesn’t take much to get floors dirty, scratched up or dull looking. It shouldn’t take long to get them clean and looking awesome either and it doesn’t. This method literally takes seconds and produces excellent results.
The wooden floors in our office are old and worn and dull. There is also some water damage by the front window.
If you are curious as to why there is water damage take a look at Old House Renovation. The floors really need to be sanded down and refinished but that just isn’t in the cards right now.
The Solution: Quick Shine By Holloway House
I discovered this product years and years ago and is wonderful for giving your floors new life in minutes. I have used it on hardwoods, vinyl and ceramic tile and I love it!
So here is a picture of the floor before Quick Shine. I cleaned it as best as I good. This floor has really seen some action!
All you have to do is squirt it out onto the floor and spread it around with a mop similar to this one here . Yes, it is that easy and Quick! It dries in minutes!
Here is a half and half view of the floor. Can you believe the difference? I just LOVE products that work!
Want more cleaning tips?
So, for now. I will cover up the water damage with a piece of furniture and enjoy my beautifully “restored” floor. Quick Shine does not last forever, you will need to reapply from time to time, but it does NOT build up a strange ugly film on your floors! If you want some nice looking “shoes” for your room, Quick Shine a try and you might be surprised by the results.
If you love this cleaning tip Check out these too!

I tried this after reading the post about it and my wood floors have never ever looked so shiny and nice. It stays shiny even when you wipe up spills.
I also used it on Mexican tile in my bathrooms with the same great effects. I highly recommend it to anyone with wood floors.
Denise @Chaotically Creative says
It is just wonderful isn’t it?
Deborah says
I’ve used this as well and it REALLY works!
phyllis says
Do you use a wet or dry mop?
Denise @Chaotically Creative says
I use a damp mop Phyllis only because I don’t want a dry mop to soak up all the product. I have found that I use less product this way. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Kathy says
Is this like a wax?
Denise @Chaotically Creative says
Hi Kathy,
It is a water based polymer. It makes your floor shine but it is not dulling like a wax and it does not have to be buffed.
Valerie says
Hi Dorothy,
Is this slippery as well? I would love the shiny but my husband would absolutely hate slipping in his wool socks.
Please let me know. Thanks!
Denise @Chaotically Creative says
Humm, well it is very shiny, but I don’t think it is overly slippery. I am the queen of slipping and falling so I would just be caution as you would with any waxed shiny surface.
Linda says
Walmart has it for under 6$.
JOdie Roose says
A few months ago I found an article that recommended quick shine on floors. My kitchen/entryway vinyl floors were looking dull. It took me 2 coats, but they looked brand new!!! Thanks for posting … I love this product as well.
Vivian says
We have prefinished hardwood, about 5 yrs old. The finish is starting to dull. Can this be used on prefinished wood? I don’t want to ruin it.
Denise @Chaotically Creative says
I would check out their website Vivian and maybe try in a small area first. http://www.hollowayhouse.net/products/56-quick-shine-floor-finish.aspx
Jenny says
Were your hardwoods originally finished with polyurethane or were they waxed hardwoods?
Your’s look amazing now!
Jenny
Denise @Chaotically Creative says
I believe they are polyurethane. It appears that there was carpet over them at one time. When the house was redo, they sorta half way refinished them.
Diane says
Can anyone tell me if this Quickshine can be used on Lamanite floors?
No matter what I use they always look dull.
Denise @Chaotically Creative says
The bottle says any it can be used on Laminates. In fact, I just saw a commercial for Quick Shine on HGTV. Their website has a lot of information as well. http://www.hollowayhouse.net/products/56-quick-shine-floor-finish.aspx
mary vail says
I’ve been using this stuff for several years. It doesn’t seem to hurt anything although I haven’gt used it on my marble bathroom floor. Shine lasts for months. My hardwood floors are parquet and old. Does a good job.
Denise @Chaotically Creative says
I know Mary! Some people are saying that it leaves a film. I wonder if they are cleaning the floors before using this? I have never had a film.
Dana says
I have used it in the past and it left a film. However, I used it week after week after week. It was a horrible goopy mess that trapped dirt and grime. It may be better to just use it and then do normal cleaning and after it wears off reapply.
Denise @Chaotically Creative says
Yes Dana, you don’t have to use it very often. It has been months since I used it on the office and the floor is still shining! Thanks for stopping by!
Ashley @ 3 Little Greenwoods says
Oh my goodness! I’m so glad I found this post. My 3 little ones have knocked the shine right off my hardwoods. Thanks so much for the review!
Pinning!

Good to know! My hardwood floor is looking pretty dull. I can’t wait to try it!
Sharon says
How many coats did you have to use to get this shine? My floors are O-L-D (over 100 yrs) and parts of the shine has totally worn off. I bought Quick Shine cleaner and polish. Wondering how many coats I might need so I can make sure I have enough handy. Thanks!
Denise @Chaotically Creative says
Hi Sharon, this was only one coat. I would clean them good first and then use the Quick Shine. I am not familiar with the clean and polish product. The one I use is Floor Finish. They also have a hardwood restorer out. The floor finish works on several types of flooring.
I don’t know if you will get the same level of shine with the polish. Let’s us know how it works out.
Sharon says
I guess I didn’t explain too well what I got. I bought their floor cleaner and the (green) floor finish. Used it today, I didn’t get the amount of shine I had hoped for, nor what you got. In fact, it didn’t shine as well as when I used the oil & vinegar solution. Perhaps my floors were in worse shape than yours, because your look great!
Denise @Chaotically Creative says
You Might want to try another coat or two. They also have one in with a brown label especially for hardwoods.
moy says
How about using it with dogs??
Will there little paw prints leave marks after using this product??
Denise @Chaotically Creative says
It says on the bottle that it is safe to use with pets. Not sure about the paw prints though…
Jasmin says
I’ve been using this product for a few months and I love it. My question is, how do I maintain it looking shiny? After I mop it with water it turns dull again.
Denise @Chaotically Creative says
Hi Jasmin, I just reapply it when it needs it. It’s really not a permanent shine. Thanks for stopping by!
Marie says
Used it today on my hardwood floors. 10 years ago I refinished it myself and I keep it shined by using this product every few months. I used 2 coats today and looks new. It does not turn dull or milky, stays beautiful as it wears off. But just redo it. You’ll love it.
P.s. hubby and I wear socks and it is not slippery. You’ll be safe!!!
Denise @Chaotically Creative says
Thanks so much for sharing Marie! It is such a great product!
Hidee says
Does anyone know how it reacts to a steam mop? Would love to try it but worry it will turn white or leave streaks like bona does.
Lauren says
Kinda random- but we are renting a house with decent, but OLD wooden cabinets. I was looking for something to perk them up (pine-sol, old English…etc). Do you think it would be ok on the outside of cabinets that are dull and worn out? Does it JUST provide shine, or does it help condition the floors too? Your floors look great!
Denise @Chaotically Creative says
Hi Lauren,
You can always try it. It really appears to condition and I believe they make a wood conditioner. There is also a product Liquid Gold that is really good for wood. Thanks for stopping by!
Sarah Hart says
This stuff is the best. I was sold when my mother in law used it on her worn out hardwood floors and quikshine brought them back to life.
Lesley @Chaotically Creative says
SO Glad to hear Sarah. Mom has been swearing by it for years,
Mary says
So glad you posted about this product!! We have a huge old house with lots of old wood flooring. I am cleaning for Thanksgiving and finally found this product and it’s amazing how wonderful the floors look!!! Wish I had found this years ago!
kc chick says
I’ve used Quick Shine for years, and it’s a miracle in a bottle. You can also use it on wood furniture, laminate counter tops, painted trim, etc. Just make sure you test it first to make sure it doesn’t damage what you’re trying to shine/restore. I used it on my faux granite laminate counter tops before we moved, and everyone thought they were real granite because they were so shiny. 😉
Elen says
Tried it, and was not impressed. Might be my floors. They are very old and did not have a good shiny surface to start with.
I did use some Bona and that stuff REALLY works! I even found it at Walmart. Great stuff and looks nice for along time.
Lesley @Chaotically Creative says
I’ve heard great things about Bona too. Glad you found something that works well on your floors!
Leah says
I have two questions… 1) is this product anything like mop and glow? I swore I would never use that again because it is waxy and holds onto dirt so you eventually have to scrape the stuff off, but I would be very excited and actually so would my husband, if this stuff gave the shine without the yuck. Also 2) so this is a treatment to use every few months but it won’t wash off during regular moppings in between?
Lesley @Chaotically Creative says
Hi Leah,
I personally have never used Mop and Glow. On my floors I have not experienced any waxy build up and have never had to scrape it off in any way. It is a treatment you may only need once a month however I like my floors to look super shiny so I mop and then use the Quick Shine. I would say I do both every 2 weeks. I would suggest trying it out on an section and seeing what you think. Let us know if you do.
Gail Atwood says
We live in a house from the 1950’s. The floors have never been polyurethaned. We have actually hand waxed for years. We can’t afford to poly. Is there anything we can use to strip, clean and polish the floors. The floors are in good shape but worn. Just needs a good cleaning. Everything I find is for poly floors. Thanks for your help.
Denise @Chaotically Creative says
Hi Gail, you probably need a product that will strip the old wax from the floor and then apply new wax. Holloway House has a couple of products that might work for you. I have personally never used them but I am sure you could contact the company and talk to them about your floor. Here is the link to contact them They have a Quick Shine Deep Clean and a Product called Wax and Clean. Hope this helps!

Lacey says
can this product be used on painted wood floors? My brother recently purchased an older house, the previous tenants painted the wooden floors. I’m looking for a quick fix until he is able to redo the floors.
Lesley @Chaotically Creative says
If the painted floors are sealed like wood floors are this product may shine it. It’s a water based product with no harsh chemicals so it would be worth a try in my opinion.
Marianne says
When you go to refinish the floors, the polish will not come off. I used it and could not remove it without using a floor stripper. You cannot refinish the wood floor until you get all the self shine products off or the polyurethane will not stick. I have been slowly scrubbing all the floors for the past several months as sanding is not an option for me. Good luck.
