Sometimes the junk you save and thrift store finds come together in just the right combination. Such was the case with these adorable Porch Owls. It goes back to my belief that if you buy and keep the things you love, they will find a place in your home and a way to cheer your heart.
I don’t even remember how long I have held on to this rake head thinking that one day I would do something with it. Just lying around the basement waiting to be used in a creation. I would touch bases with it ever so often when looking for something and say hello and think to myself, “there must be something I can do with you. I just don’t know what.” A wreath maybe or some sort of holder of something.
So while doing some porch tweaking, I decided to hang it on the wall. I don’t like making holes in vinyl siding so I just slip a cup hook up inside the siding. It works great!
Then I remembered the Owl Family that had been used in another area of the porch. Wouldn’t they be cute hanging from this rake? Oh Yeah! So I tried some burlap and then this ribbon. Then I remembered the rusty springs I had taken off the vintage porch furniture in the post Evoking Vintage Memories.
I had held onto them thinking they would make some really cute metal curls on something. So I added them to the owls. Gotta love some good ole rusty springs.
Then it dawned on me that the owls could hang just from the rusty springs! A simple fluffy burlap bow was added to hide the cup hook and there you go. Porch Owls to greet our Porch Visitors. Doesn’t that candle just look lovely? I lit it to keep from getting eaten alive by mosquitoes while working on this.
Hours later, I discover this. Yep, forgot to blow out the candle. Just like I forgot that I put eggs on to boil the other day and when I left the sink for “just a moment “while it filled up. The house didn’t burn down and the wax cleaned up just fine. So did the exploded eggs. Chaos calmed once again…
