I have a confession to make.
I am not the best gift giver!
I don’t know what it is but I feel this overwhelming feeling of “What if I make the wrong choice?” when it comes to picking out a gift. I can’t tell you that amount of stress that this has caused!
I’m serious! So you can only imagine that when Uncommon Goods wanted to partner with me I was all ears.

Uncommon Goods = Unexpected Reactions
Have you heard of Uncommon Goods? I have been browsing their website for years but had actually never ordered from the site. Like I said I had major gift giving anxiety! Uncommon Goods is not only a site that offers unique and one of a kind personalized gifts but they are also a company with great ethics and morals. You guys know how I feel about companies that care!
“Uncommon Goods is committed to offering you a creative and exciting merchandise assortment and are working with our suppliers – from artists to small manufacturers – to make their products in a more socially and environmentally responsible manner. Since our founding, we’ve featured products that contain recycled components and have not sold products containing leather, feathers or fur – we’re committed to selling products that do no harm to people or animals.”
See, gift giving just got a lot easier for me. I not only have a place to shop that has cool gifts but it’s with a company that cares about people, animals, and our environment! But there’s so much more…. “How can there be more?!?!? ” I’ll explain.
As many of you know our family has made a big move from Nashville to Memphis. That meant our kids left schools and friends they have known for a long time. I wanted to give each one of them something special for their new rooms. Gavin’s room use to look like this and Jude’s room looked like this. Cute right?!?! In our new home, Gavin’s room is going to have a Vintage Basketball vibe and Jude’s room is going to be an Adventure/Camp room.
To help make their rooms exciting and fun and to get their minds off of the move I explored UncommonGoods for some personalized gifts for Jude. I decided the Story Book Adventure Pillow would work perfectly in his new room.
My thoughts were correct the pillow looks amazing but what I didn’t imagine was how Jude would react to this new pillow. I mean, after all, it’s just a pillow. Or is it?
Gifts the Inspire
Jude was so inspired by his new pillow, which features the front cover and back cover of an adventure story starring him, that he decided to fill in the rest of the story. That’s right he replicated the story cover from the pillow and then wrote a 25-page book! Who would’ve have known that a gift as simple as a pillow could be so inspiring?
So needless to say Jude was and still is thrilled by his personalized storybook pillow! He still continues to add chapters to his book and has plans of setting up a table and selling copies to our neighbors. He’s always been, my little entrepreneur! ( he randomly took juice boxes and set up a “stand” with a cardboard box one day. He sold one for the price of the entire box!) I need to hire him!
Gavin, on the other hand, is completely different. He is a little less creative and far more driven and goal oriented. He absolutely loves the sport of basketball and anything that is somewhat related to it. When I saw this Lightbox , I thought it would be perfect in his vintage basketball room. What I didn’t expect was that he would find it in the dining room, take it up to his room and do this….
I mean this kid, has GOALS! And he didn’t just capture them and commit to them on the lightbox. He literally practices every day on his own for at least an hour, he’s been doing this for months. I do believe this child will meet his goal by Dec. 25 and you will be the first to know! This lightbox was awesome for him and would be incredible in an office or playroom as well click here for more gift ideas.
Needless to say, Uncommon Goods not only made gift giving easier but came with some unexpected reactions. I have never had ANYONE react to gifts the way my boys did with these! They were original, useful and served a purpose for each of them individually. Just thinking about how they each reacted to these gifts brings tears to my eyes. These two kids are something special.
