With a very small budget and two days to complete, I managed to pull this small full sized bathroom together before my Mother and Father in Law arrived from North Carolina. I apologize that I did not take many before pictures but, I was in a super big hurry!
We used Benjamin Moore Grey Cashmere for the wall color which is actually more of a light grey green. It is definitely not a true grey. I repainted this small cabinet which was sage green and yellow, now it has a fresh coat of white and light grey. I used left over paint from the Laundry room and mixed it with white to create the color on the cabinet. (Benjamin Moore Sparrow plus White) The Threshold Textured Towel and Threshold Printed Fern Towels as well as the Threshold Fern Shower curtain in teal were all purchased at Target. I only buy a few accent towels for decoration and use older towels for bathing.
All of the items mentioned above were featured together as a “set” in the store. The bath mat that was with the rest of the items was grey and also did not have a non-slip backing. I thought that getting a grey mat was a little too much grey for one room. So I took a look around in other sections and found this yellow beauty. Don’t ever be afraid to look away from the sets that the stores feature for you. Sometimes you may find something extra special, I even found two others that would have worked well like this bird one, and the damask rug. I went with the all over pattern and it was a perfect fit.
Accessories, Accessories, Accessories. The only accessory I bought for this room was the white candle sitting on the little grey cabinet. Everything else was a thrift find, a purchase from long ago or something given to me.
The grey travel make-up case is a vintage Samsonite that Mom found at a thrift store. I cleaned it following Mom’s instructions . I choose not to recover the entire interior because it was in great shape except for the bottom. Instead I just used some sticky drawer liner by Laura Ashley and lined the bottom of the case. I found this drawer liner at TJ Maxx where they often have many other fun patterns at a great price.
Let’s talk about the picture of the beautiful lady framed in yellow. She is one of my favorite things and I have been dying to find a home for her. Not until I finished the bathroom did I realize it was the perfect place for her. My In-Laws actually purchased this oil painting reproduction about 25 years ago in Madrid and gave it to me a few years back. I thought it would be a nice welcome for them if I included it in their bathroom. I backed the print with book-paged wrapping paper found it the dollar section at Target and repainted the formally black frame to a nice crisp shade of yellow using the easy distressing paint technique.
Frequently I talk about the details. One detail that my husband insists upon in our home is the light and outlet covers. He despises plastic covers. I love how he likes to put a little interior design input into our projects. You can see that we switched out the plate covers in the garage as well.
I’ve been looking for a place for my latest thrift store find, this grey and teal retro/mod cookie stand. I put it on the counter hoping it would be useful and it has been. My in-laws are using it to hold their toothpaste and hairbrushes. I am so happy it looks so well and is functional. 
I love mixing modern elements like this ice bucket turned planter and vintage elements like the Samsonite make-up case and painting from Madrid. Mixing different styles and time periods of pieces gives your room a more developed and evolved look. Adding plants to a room brings a little life and is especially great in rooms with low or no light.
When I saw this Allen and Roth light fixture at Lowes I wasn’t quite sure if it was going to be too small for this single vanity but it was perfect. The classic and modern elements again fit this bathroom styling perfectly.
What a difference right? And you guys didn’t even get to see it when the bathroom was yellow. I used Benjamin Moore Granite to paint the vanity. I made sure to prime it first with several coats of Zinsser Cover Stain primer. This primmer is great for slick or plastic surfaces. My in-laws had never seen the bathroom before but, they loved the way it looked when they arrived. It has a wonderful classic feel with calming greys, bold teals and a zest of yellow in an otherwise dark space.
