This spring I planted seeds in a Seed Plug Tray. In just a couple of weeks my seed is a full blown seedling with a square of dirt and root called a plug.
I gently pulled the seedling out of the seed plug tray. This little plug will allow the seedling to quickly adjust in it’s new home.
You will need a container about the size of a Styrofoam coffee cup.
In fact, you can use a Styrofoam cup. Just punch a hole in the bottom for drainage. They are inexpensive if you have a lot of seedlings and they work great.
These little pots can be planted right into the garden when ready. And they look kinda neat don’t they?
Just right the name of your plant on the outside
because squash and cucumber seedlings really look alike…
Wasn’t that easy?
All they need now is love.
water and a sunny window.
It won’t be long before these little guys will be planted and growing in the garden.
Can you use this same process with a hosta root or a fern root?
Hi Margaret, I have always divided my hosta plants and planted the root directly in the ground. I have not done that with ferns, but if you are growing from seed you can use this method.
