Disclosure: This awesome post was written in collaboration with Porch.com and Royal Design Studios who provided us with the super amazing stencil and compensation.
A few years back I decorated our condo in a very traditional style with calming colors and it was gorgeous. But… yes there’s a BUT …. it wasn’t totally me. It was beautiful but it lacked color, funk, and life. I have always been a color girl! I just love color and this tray has just been screaming I need COLOR!
So when Porch challenged 7 bloggers to use a Royal Design Studio Stencil to update a room, piece of furniture or accessory I knew this tray would be perfect.
I love taking items and turning them in to a new style like this piece of wall art I revamped for Jude’s room. And stencils are the absolute easiest and fastest solution to update pretty much ANYTHING!
I took this tray from French Country to Tuscan Paradise!
How to Stencil a Tray:
– use a chalk based paint or acrylic and paint all the sides and interior. It took me two coats of blue and in the inside two coats of white
– tape your stencil down to hold it in place
-using stencil brushes gently tap your paint covered brush around over the stencil
– give the paint a few minutes to dry and then you can switch colors
– after completing your stencil pattern let all the paint dry.
– for a distressed look dip a dry brush in white paint and lightly brush over the surface of the tray
– I also added gold streaks as well for that extra glimmer
We use our grill a lot during the summer and always have a ton of stuff to carry outside. This large tray will be perfect for carrying all of our goodies out to grill! We love spending time outdoors during the summer as well and having a decorated space outside makes it even more enjoyable. I am so in love with our back patio but don’t think it just got this way over night. It started like this here. As you can see it was not large enough for a seating area. But with inspiration from Porch.com and hiring an expert from Lowes we were able to have the patio of our dreams.
Speaking of Porch.com and Lowes have you heard of either one? Porch.com
is a home network. What does that mean? Imagine Pinterest meets Linkedin for home improvement. You can quickly connect to BBB accredited professionals, browse over 130 million projects on Porch.
They even partner with… you guessed it Lowes! You can find Porch in all 1500 Lowe’s stores across the country, where homeowners can get connected to a trusted professional in-store. Isn’t that awesome.
Now that I’ve completed my challenge I challenge you to take a look at things around your house and before you get rid of them see if you can revamp them by using stencils! Just think of what you can do you could even turn a super boring wall in to something like this or even this!
