Painting Kitchen Cabinets
As soon as I moved into our home 3 years ago I knew that these Cherry colored cabinets were not going to work.
The four reasons for wanting to paint the cabinets were…
- The floors being oak and the cabinets being cherry drove my little OCD brain crazy
- The kitchen being narrow with little natural light made this area very dark
- The cabinets were pretty beat up and needed a facelift
- I love white kitchen cabinets.
I am going to be honest with you. Painting your cabinets may seem like a simple task and it is an easy one. But be forewarned it is a long and tedious project. The larger your kitchen the longer your product.
A DIY beginner can totally accomplish this task. But it take a lot of time and a lot of living in chaos!
Our kitchen items were in the guest bedroom for at least 5 months.
Now, Let’s talk about the tools for painting kitchen cabinets.

- Tape’n Drape Pre-Taped Mask Film (used for protecting cabinets and countertops)

- Power Drill (used for removing cabinet hardware)
- Primer (makes the paint stick to cabinets)
- Benjamin Moore Advance (the best paint for cabinets that gives a professionally finished look)

I’d love to have one of these…it would help so much with painting furniture, my kitchen cabinets and new woodwork in our home

I love BM Advanced Paint. It’s amazing. I did some work with the gloss finish and was skeptical but it was easy to use and turned out beautifully. I wish this paint had been available when I painted my cabinets. Question – how much did you you have to dilute the paint for the sprayer?
Lesley @Chaotically Creative says
It had to be diluted more than your basic latex paint. I made sure to use the dipping cup that the sprayer came with and did actually time it out like the instructions recommended. It ended up needing quite a bit of thinning. With this type of paint it’s a good idea just to add a little water then test then add a little more then test. When you spray and you can hardly see anything spray that means you are good. If you can see it spattering and you can actually see the paint shooting out then it’s probably not thin enough
