If you know me… you know I am NOT a girly girl! I typically have paint on my hands, barely wear make-up and have my hair thrown up in a sloppy pony tail. It takes quite a lot of motivation to get the girly girl out of me. After all I was raised with 4 brothers and I have two boys myself. Let’s face it girly stuff just doesn’t come that natural to me. However for the right reason I can harness my inner girly girl in order to bring an amazing child’s wish to fruition.
As many of you know I have written about how cancer has touched my life here, here and here. I’ve written about it in remembrance of my brother in law, I’ve written about it to help bring awareness to young adults and lastly to help raise money for a cure. But today I am writing about this illness once again to help support a foundation that does amazing things for many, many terminally ill children.
I am so excited to announce that I am a part of a team of SUPER MODELS BLOGGERS that will be working on an amazing project together.
Our team of super bloggers have united in an effort to help raise money and awareness for the Make-A -Wish Middle Tennessee Foundation. Jenna from Rain on a Tin Roof, Kristie from The Decorologist and Kari Ann from Thistlewood Farms and I have all been asked to decorate a themed tree based off of wishes from 4 children from our area with life-threatening medical conditions. We each have a budget of $500 and beautiful trees donated by Balsam Hill which will make these wishes come to life in the form of a tree. These Christmas trees will adorn 4 magnificent houses in the Kings’ Chapel Parade of Homes in Arrington, Tennessee. The tree I am decorating will be featured in a home built by Tennessee Valley Homes, (many thanks to their team for sponsoring me.) The trees will be a part of an on-going silent auction during the parade with the proceeds benefiting Make-A- Wish Middle Tennessee.
Are you wondering about my wish child and her wish? Have I given it away yet?
Ok… I’ll stop stalling (i’m just so excited!!!)
Now… without further ado… it is my pleasure to introduce the child that has inspired my tree…
Meet Super Model Esperanza
Esperanza loves the colors pink and purple and loves to be pampered. For her wish, she got to pick out a few special outfits, get her hair and makeup done, have a personal photo shoot in her new outfits, have a custom dress made by designer Johnathan Kayne, and take part/model her new dress in Johnathan Kayne’s fashion show during Nashville Fashion Week. This was a day dedicated to Esperanza and making her feel special.
Taking inspiration from both Esperanza and Johnathan Kayne’s amazing dress, this tree is fit for a SUPER MODEL Every inch of this tree will bling. I am using every once of GIRL POWER to make this tree reflect Esperanza’s wish ! I have elements of “being pampered”, the color pink, make-up, fashion and more incorporated in to this spectacular tree.
So far hues of hot pink, white black, and silver will adorn the SUPER MODEL tree. When I think of Esperanza’s wish words t like “Dazzle”, “Sparkle” and “Shine” come to mind. After all didn’t she just sparkle, dazzle and shine in her dress?
Enjoy some sneak peeks at some of the ornaments and DIY’s that I will be revealing once my tree is complete. I’m so excited about the wish i get to reflect.
Here is a list of the other three wishes….
