—I LOVE Thrift Store Decor! How Many Thrift Store Items Can You Find Here?

I have noticed over the years that I tend to hang on to my antique/vintage items and thrift store finds much longer than I do new decor.

Maybe it is because they have stood the test of time and they are so versatile. I switched them from room to room. Whatever the case, I love thrift store shopping and the excitement that goes along with the “find” and the money that I save. I also love having items that are unique,  different and have a history.

Can You Believe It?

Recently the Office Furniture Refurbish took place as well as some Thrift Store shopping for styling the area. I shared some Thrift Store Finds with you and you may recognize some of them used in this piece.

So many people tell me that they just can’t shop thrift stores. They get overwhelmed and can’t see the tree for the forest. They just can’t see anything but someone else’s junk. After all, it is a bunch of unrelated stuff in a place with a funny smell. So, it really helps to know what you like, what you are going to look for and what fits in your decor plan. Then you block out the rest. Otherwise, your house is going to start looking like a Thrift Store. Not such a great look.

It really all goes back to having a decor plan for your space. Taking the time to plan the look or style you want for your home helps you recognize the pieces you need to snag. Here is the conversation that goes on in my head, ” Okay, I really like this piece. What will I do with it? Where will it go? Can it be upcyled or re purposed?”

And remember, if you love it, you better get it or it will be gone and there is no additional shipment coming!

I have been collecting ceramic pieces with this creamy buttery look for some time now. The vase above was from a thrift store for $2.00. The chalk birds were a find from a local antique mall but still only $7.00 for the pair. Often you can find these little shops that aren’t really classified as Thrift but have prices as low as.

Here are our Music Sheet Bouquets made from an old 99 cent music book and ruffles from a $9.00  Thrift Store wedding dress. The wooden container was from the same shop as the birds for only $10.00.  There is also a lot of ruffles and lace left over for another project and we even used the front of the book on top of the office furniture.

Remember this vintage Aladdin Stanley Thermos. This was a find at 3.99 at a Thrift store. I loved the color and the worn out (vintage) surface. Perfect vase for flowers. I tucked it in the same chubby as the printer and it soften the area.

This little $2.00 jewel caught my eye and I really did not know exactly what I was going to use it for. It is a ceramic piece that hangs on the wall and used for matches. I bought it because the price was good for a very versatile piece.

Here we have a vintage metal Equipto piece from a antique shop for $20.00. I was please to find out that similar pieces are selling for $100 and up. I knew when I saw it that it would be great office storage and really add to the furniture. It was missing one drawer so I took out the top drawers and used for paper storage.

Here you also see more of the creamy ceramic pieces that I snagged for just a dollar or two. The old books came from Goodwill for 99 cents a piece. The colors of the books really bring everything together. 
.One of my favorite recent finds was this vintage tray. I knew exactly what I would do with it and snagged it for $5.00 at a thrift store. The ceramic piece in the center was a gift from my aunt years ago and started the creamy collection.  Interestingly enough, my husband said that the ceramic pieces were his favorite elements of this piece. He said that they reminded him of soap.

And lastly, we have this vintage piece of polyester in a honeycomb print. This section used to have cabinet doors on it, but the hinges were messed up and I could not find the right replacements. We still have a computer tower, so I used this piece of vintage fabric found for $5.00 as a desk curtain. It helps to keep the dust off the equipment while still allowing air flow and it really adds to the overall shabby chic look of the desk.
