Key to Calm 101: Bathroom Hooks
This bathroom has taken over a year to complete. And the sad thing is that we actually had professional help with some of it. That part was done quickly. The decorating part well that was let for me and it has taken FOREVER… FORever… forever (that was my attempt to type out an echo) Did you read it like that?
It took so long because I painted triangles for over a year on the wall. Then I hung bead board wallpaper on half the room and suddenly decided I needed it to wrap all the way the room. Lastly, I decided that we needed a subway tile wall (and to be honest that’s not even completely done but will be tomorrow).
Finally, the end is near and the boys can use their bathroom. Take a look here to see how to design a functional Kids’ bathroom. One thing I didn’t mention in that post the importance of having a place to hang towels. Look let’s be honest …. towel bars aren’t practical.
My kids have never hung their towels back on a towel bar. In fact I don’t hang my towels on one either. I throw mine over the top of the shower. However that’s not practical for the boys and it doesn’t look that great.
So, I decided to install three hooks at kid level so that they could hang their own towels. I firmly believe in helping kids become as independent as possible. Kids love being able to do things on their own it gives them a sense of empowerment.
Want to know more? After I installed the bead board wallpaper I glued on the molding. Once the molding glue was dry, I simply screwed the hooks with the provided screws . And there you go…. a simple way to control that towel chaos.

I love the color scheme and the hooks for children to learn early on to take care of their belongings. What is the color you used?

Is there a photo of the triangles? I don’t see them- love the beadboard wallpaper, though!Is it easier to hang than real beadboard? or cheaper?
I agree completely about hooks v. towelbars. I don’t know why, but I guess my kids don’t want to actually have to FOLD the towel in half the long way to hang it on the towel bar, so it gets thrown over the top of the door or hung on the doorknob( and tough luck to the next person who takes a shower. I just bought a – don’t know if it has a name- a hook-thingie that’s in the shape of a big X and folds up, but when unfolded it has a peg/hook atevery crossroads/intersection of wooden strips-I got it at DOLLAR TREE!!!!!love that place!
