Good Morning, I am back from LA which was AMAZING but I’ll tell you more about that later. Tanya, our money saving guru, is here giving us tips on how to save money on clothes. Remember to head over and follow Tanya’s blog My Fruitful Home on Facebook for more awesome tips and posts.
Four Great Places to Save on Clothing and Accessories
I love getting new clothes, but I don’t like paying full price! I don’t think I have ever bought a clothing item without it being on sale. There are so many great ways to save on clothing and accessories. Here are five great places to save!
Target:
There are so many ways to save on clothes at Target. I always head straight for the sales racks. I have found a spring jacket for $8 and a long sleeved tee for 3.50! The Target website has coupons and sometimes you can find some for clothing and accessory items. Now they also have The Target Cartwheel app. You can access it from your desktop or mobile at www.cartwheel.com or get the app at the app store or Google Play. This allows you to save 5 to 50% on every area of the store. You can combine these with the Target coupons and manufacturer’s coupons for big savings! You can also use your Redcard. You add an offer to your Cartwheel list and then scan the barcode in the store. It’s that simple!
Kohl’s:
I think Kohl’s is one of my favorite places to shop! I love the fact that you can return anything at anytime with or without a receipt. If you don’t have your receipt and you used your credit card they can look it up. If you used cash then they will give you a gift card for the current price. When you sign up at www.Kohls.com you receive a $5 coupon good for sale and non sale items. If you have Kohl’s charge card you will get coupons in the mail for 15%, 20%, or 30% off your total purchase. I usually don’t get store credit cards, but this one is definitely worth it for all the savings that I’ve accumulated. Sometimes they offer something called Kohl’s cash. For every $50 you spend you get a $10 coupon!
Their sales racks have sales up to 90 % off at times! I love it when I can combine a 30% coupon with an item that is 80% or 90% off. Now Kohl’s also has a Kohl’s rewards program. You can sign up here www.kohlsrewards.com. For every dollar you spend you get a point. When you reach 100 points you get $5 off.
Resale shops:
The only resale shop I have in my town besides Goodwill is Plato’s Closet. Since this is typically geared towards teenagers I never thought of shopping there. I was pleasantly surprised. I found some really nice shirts and even a dress. They also have a lot of jewelry, purses and other accessories. They only accept good quality items and they are reasonably priced. I’m sure many of you have more than one resale shop in your town. If you’re not sure you can go to www.thethriftshopper.com or www.consignmentpal.com .
E-Bay:
A few years back I started buying and selling on E-bay. I don’t always like to shop for clothes online because I can’t try them on, but if you know the brand you can be pretty sure that it will fit. I have bought a brand new $70 winter coat on E-bay for only $20. I have also bought many brand new Vera Bradley purses for a considerable discount. Accessories are a great thing to buy on E-bay because you don’t have to try them on first. Many times my sister has bought dress pants by her favorite brand because she knows they fit. She has saved at least 50%. Most sellers have their return policy stated on E-bay so if something doesn’t fit you have the option of returning the item.
I would love to hear the ways you save on clothing and accessories. I’m sure there are other ways I haven’t even heard of yet!

Great tips! Another trick I use is: shopping for clothes in your daughter’s closet. She is always shopping in mine, so when she is away at college I shop in hers. It is always fun to wear something new…!!
