Fireplace TV Nook Solution

This week I asked you on Facebook  to help me with finding a fireplace TV nook solution.  I loved reading through all of your suggestions! In fact, I loved your suggestions so much that I decided to try them out.

But why did I need suggestions, well this comment by Beatrice pretty much sums up my feelings ….

“Sorry, but it almost looks like a fireplace on top of a fireplace!! First, though I thought it was awesome,,,then the more I looked at it,, the stranger it looked!! Take it down as one piece and use it somewhere else???

Here’s what the space looks like. The yellow walls have been replace with Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore. That is the only update that has happened in this space. The list is pretty large. But for this wall in particular there has got to be a fireplace TV nook solution and the fireplace tiles have got to change. But what should I do? Let’s look at what some of our Facebook Followers suggested.

Jill says ” I might build a false back to bring it forward and mount a flat screen. I would keep the tv low though, as it is already borderline too high. Maybe a shelf or two above the tv for additional books/display items??? Doors are an option, but if the tv is used a lot, they will always be open – may not be worth it. If this tv will have any gaming system, dvd, electronics, etc I would make sure to run conduit or wire everything to one of the side bookshelves/cabinets to hide all wire and keep the electronics within reach.good luck!

So many great tips from Jill and I totally agree the TV is already too high when we are sitting on the couch!

Tracie says,  “Oh I like the idea of bumpin it up , the house I lived in before this one had one of those things only smaller!”

Yvonne suggested, “Paint the cubby an accent color and I would hang shutter type folding doors to hide the tv when not in use…I love the look of this and definitely would not remove it !”

Cassie agreed as well,  “I like color & doors…so when you open them…surprise! I think I would keep the door white, pretty pulls & a flat screen would likely help balance it because you could mount it probably more towards the center. It’s a nice arch…looks great with the built-ins.”

Ok, please forgive me for the “color pop” in real life it would look so much better! And I love the idea of folding shutter doors. Imagine this with the backs of the other shelves on the left and right painted the pop of green in the back.

 Stephanine recommends, ” Remove the whole upper portion and hang a flat-screen above the fireplace, if you really want to have a t.v. there.”

I’m kind-of digging the clean look of this but, ugh all that work.

Honestly no mater which option I choose I think there will be work.

So tell me which fireplace TV nook solution would you choose if this was in your house?

Oh and by the way I have two of these in my house!
