Since the moment we moved into our new house two years ago we dreamed of the day we would have a fence. Jude is infamous for taking off in a dead sprint at any given moment. Although he never did dash for the road it still never made going outside the slightest bit relaxing.
Here’s a reminder of what the yard looked like pre-fence…
Now I am so pleased to show you what our backyard looks like with a fence.
PLEASE IGNORE THE GRASS!!
A little Slice of Paradise Backyard Reveal
Here’s a quick reminder of our To-Do list for our Backyard/Patio Makeover
Get a Fence (especially to contain Jude who loves to run circles around the house and to prevent children from climbing in the huge culvert behind the house, notice big pile of grey rocks pictured in the distance below)- extend patio slab
- buy comfortable conversational patio furniture
- find some sort of shading for the patio (large umbrella, gazebo etc)
- Re-finish old metal patio table and chairs
add minimal landscaping and accent flowersenhance the kids area/kid’s garden
We choose to extend the garden bed and bring the mulch all the way through the play area and rock box area. The main reasoning behind that was, MUD prevention. The yard was so muddy after the fence was put in we had to do something. We also figured once the kids are older and the play toys are deserted (sigh) we can landscape this area.
We added a new larger playhouse and as you can see our little chef loves to use it to cook at the BBQ!
Look at that sweet little boy in his backyard paradise. We tossed and turned over investing in a trampoline or a large play set. We ended up just adding to the existing plastic playhouse Jude already had. Kids grow so fast and to tell you the truth everyone I know that has swing-sets and trampolines end up not using them as much as they thought.
Adding a water table, two small chairs and a table, and an umbrella really added to his outdoor play space. Jude has his own little outdoor space to play in.
He can cook, play in the water, dig in rocks, garden, mow, and drive is own little car. What more could you ask for?
This cute little beach umbrella works perfectly to shade this area of Jude’s outdoor play space. We bought the umbrella as well as the table and chairs at Target this year. The table set and chairs were around $30.00 and the umbrella was about $12.00. What a great deal compared to the other tables that were over a hundred dollars.
Although our space is now enclosed I am so happy that we have a safe area for Jude to play. I can actually garden for a few minutes without having to take off in a sprint.
Oh and did I mention the privacy! Don’t get me wrong, we have the two best back and side neighbors but we are all close in proximity. It is nice that we can all be outside enjoying our spaces and not have to stare at each other.
And before I forget here are some details on the fence….
This fencing is a new product and was purchased by Lowes. This vinyl fence is different because each section is not a panel. Each section consist of slats which the contractors cut in order to keep a straight line and to flow with the ground. We have no gap under the fence and a beautiful straight line. The fence also has a top and bottom modeling. We were told it was the best in vinyl fencing and so far we love it and can tell the difference it quality when looking at others.
Now you got a sneak peak at the patio, here’s the full reveal…..up close!!!
