A Much Needed Retreat at The Gran Bohemian, Asheville NC

School has barely been out for two weeks and I already needed a break from my two kids. Yes, I said it! I never thought in a million years that two children with an 8 year age difference could fight so much. Then add a puppy and a husband that is constantly out of town and a Mommy with little to no patience and there you have it… two weeks in to summer and I am done.  DONE

My hubby and I  were able to sneak a mini vaca in on our way to NC to pick up my in-laws for a visit. In the beautiful town of Asheville, NC there is an Estate called the Biltmore Estate. It is actually the largest privately owned Estate in North America. We have visited the Estate many times. You Downton Abbey fans would love this house. It holds it’s own to European castles such as Versailles and Neuschwanstein. However this time we skipped the Estate tour and decided to enjoy the Grand Bohemian Hotel, the Poseidon Spa, and the Red Stag resteraunt. Later in the evening we did head over to the grounds for a 5 star dining experiences at the Biltmore Inn.

The Grand Bohemian is located directly across the gates of the Biltmore Estate. The hotel is exactly as the name suggests it’s style is truly eclectic.  Driving into the hotel was quite impressive as well as the unique lobby and art gallery.

One of my favorite areas of the hotel was the upstairs covered porch, as you see here it is set up for an event. While we were there we were able to sit on furniture and enjoy drinks and the nice evening air.

The ballroom was one of the most beautiful hotel ballrooms I have ever seen. The color scheme, chandeliers, and ceiling treatment were beyond impressive.

The perfect place for this stressed out Mama was the Poseidon Spa. I enjoyed 30 minutes of therapy which was worth every penny. The spa also features a wide array of amazing products. I picked up a wonderful smelling lotion by Tokyo Milk. Le Petit featured below is the lotion which I purchased. You can click on the picture below and shop Tokyo-Milk.com for more body treats.

The Red Stag Restaurant was absolutely delicious. My husband swore that the burger he ate was the best he had ever eaten in his life. He is a burger expert. Trust me. Me on the other hand, they’re not my thing. I had the quiche instead and it was delicious as well.

Restaurant/Bar paint

I really thought the decor and color schemes of the bedroom and bathrooms were spot on. In fact I liked them so much I asked the front desk if they had the list of paint colors available and they did. I thought they would think I was crazy but apparently many other patrons have also asked for the colors. So the staff was kind enough to make a list to give to people like me and you that absolutely love paint and decor!  It didn’t surprise me to awful much when I saw that all the paints were by my favorite company the one and only, Benjamin Moore. One of the main colors is a hot one most of us have heard of this year, Revere Pewter. As you can see I have listed throughout this post many of the featured paint colors. Rooms not pictured are listed at the end of the post.

Guest room Paint:

• Main Wall- Revere Pewter (Velvet Matte)
• Accent Wall- Equestrian Gray (Velvet Matte)
• Ceiling – China White (ultra hide flat)
• Accent Wall Trim- Equestrian Grey (latex eggshell)

The bathrooms were rustic but modern, a perfect fit for men and women. I was tempted to sneak that mirror in my suitcase. You can’t tell but the tile on the floor and bathtub looks like light wood. The tile was extremely soft and beautiful, a great option for bathrooms.

If you ever need a retreat keep this little gem in mind! Don’t forget to stop by the Inn for the best dining experience you will ever have but remember it is a once in a lifetime experience. Ok maybe more than once this was our second time because we loved it so much the first time.

If your in North Carolina the Biltmore is the perfect couples retreat. Romantic, peaceful and relaxing with something for everyone to do. Mommy is refreshed and ready to see if she can make it through the rest of the summer craziness.
