Hello friends new and old! We have been on a blogging break and hopefully on Monday the 12th we will release the announcement on what has been going on here behind the scenes. I promise it’s pretty exciting.
Meanwhile, Mom is decorating her house for the annual Harriman, Tn Christmas tour and I am just maintaining my sanity on a daily basis. (you’ll understand very soon). Needless to say we have had zero time for blogging or projects, booo!
However, a while back we committed to a blogging series with Shauna from Satori Design for Living and I am so glad we did because, it was really nice to get those creative juices flowing again. Every week this month we will be given one item to create with. This week our challenge was to come up with a seasonal project using fabric paint. I had lots of ideas, but this is what I have for you. It’s easy, has many uses, and best of all it’s super inexpensive.
I wanted to make simple but elegant initial tags that I could use to hang along with our stockings since we do not have a way to tell whose is whose. However, these tags would also be great as ornaments, napkin rings or gift tags. There are so many functions and uses for them and I am sure you guys could come up with even more great ideas.
Here’s What You Need:
- Cardboard
- Canvas or duck type fabric
- fabric or craft paint
- pencil
- stencil (foam letters)
- twine
- hot glue
- glue gun
- greenery
- accent pick
- scissors
- paint brush
- silver sharpie
What to Do
The steps are quite simple and you can adjust them if you need to. Trace a circle with a cup on a piece of cardboard and using sharp scissors cut the circle out. Trace the same sized circle on a piece of fabric. Squirt hot glue on the outer edge of the cardboard circle and then place fabric on top. Press fabric firmly. Using a stencil or foam letter trace the letter of you choice onto the fabric into the middle of the circle. Using a small rounded tip paint brush, carefully paint in the letter. Let dry. Take hot glue gun and put hot glue around the outer rim of the circle and trim the entire circle with twine. Bunch up some fresh greenery of your choice and hot glue that to the top of your circle, add accent pick as well. You can use a metallic sharpie to trace a border around your letter as I did for a smooth finish.
