As many of you know Mom and I have many pets between the two of us. Buying supplies and hiding evidence of how many we have can be tricky. We typically try to make all of our pet items look nice and work with the design of our home. That’s why when Mom needed a kitty center and pet beds she decided to create them herself. I a small space these things would typically stand out but not when Mom gets creative.
Mom found a lot of wonderful vintage suitcases and was inspired to make pet beds. Below you will find her creations made from vintage suitcases, quilts, wooden legs, craft paint and a little elbow grease….Follow Mom’s Vintage luggage pet bed tutorial and make one too!
Suitcases like these can often be found at thrift stores, Goodwill or yard sales. However as the demand increases we are seeing higher prices and less available.
Making the inside of the pet bed soft and comfy is important for your pet. However making the inside attractive and durable should be important for you. For the interiors of the suitcase pet beds, Mom choose to use either vintage quilts or inexpensive quilts from Marshalls, Homegoods or TJ Max .
Look at those legs, HUBBA! HUBBA! All of the elements of this suitcase pet bed are all recyclables. In other words they have all been used before and are being used again, including the legs. If you ever find wooden legs at a second hand shop, snatch them up because they can be quite pricey.
So what do you think. Are you ready to attempt a suitcase pet bed? Collect your materials and use this tutorial. We’d love to see it!
